One of my very favorite woodland (and terrarium) plants is the partridge berry, which is now fully in bloom all over the
Fredericksburg area. Its such a wonderful sight for all seasons. During the spring blushing pink flower buds emerge, which at first real heat seem to burst into sweet white pairs of flowers... later giving way to bright red berries amongst dark
shiny evergreen leaves no taller than a few inches. These
beauties are just blanketing the edges of trails right now, and i
couldn't be any happier about it. Its times like these when the "leave not but footprints"
mantra is so hard to follow.
