March 9, 2011

I will soon move into my 27th year
And I am sure it will be the most splendid one yet
Good things are brewing
Some in secret
And some plain as day
And I am anxious for it
***

As for The Day itself,
I plan to nestle my feet up to the stove
In the early morning light
And fry up some potato pancakes in far too much browned butter
Ill heap them onto a plate and cover them in sour cream
How better could i start my day?
***

After breakfast we will pack up the picnic basket
With my favorite White cheddar, dried apricots, and salami
And we will set out for Thomas Jefferson's Monticello
Where we will learn how to properly graft apple trees
And tour the gardens
Even though we are too early
To see anything but
Hellebores, Snowdrops, and crocus
***

And then, If all goes according to plan
We will come back home to a local tattoo shop
Where I will FINALLY get the first of a long list of botanical illustrations;
An Oak leaf and acorn on my right forearm
For that I simply could not be any more excited
Or terrified
Now don't get me wrong,
I am just as excited for the pain
As for the end result
But should I not like it...

That sounds like a truly delightful plan! I hope your 27th year is just grand.
Cheers!

Happy birthday!

So excited to see your tattoo! I've been harassing my husband for years now to design an acorn to tattoo, where else???...my right forearm! Crazy! I can't wait to see it. Hope your big day is fantastic. You deserve it.

Oh, and if there are any leftover pancakes, you know where to find me. Heh.
