Comfrey

Here is a lovely flowering plant with many practical uses in the garden and home... I still haven't decided if i will try to grow it this year or not, but it is worth a mention at least. As you can see above this plant is covered in lance shaped leaves and lots of these tiny purplish bell shaped flowers. Aside from its lovely blooms, though, it is also used to fertilize the garden, to make tea, and to calm inflammation. While I'm not a tea drinker, my husband is, and it turns out my garden is as well...

The image above is a point of interest too. I have for a while now been falling head over heals in love with botanical illustrations. Hopefully this year ill finally start working on doing some myself... We'll have to wait and see. I'm full of good intentions never realized.

On another note, I found a little treasure this morning. After walking to Paul's bakery for breakfast we stopped at the salvation army to See what was what... In the back corner i found one of those old sewing machines that folds into a tabletop. Its a White Rotary, and its heavy duty green metal set into a little wooden table. It even comes with the instruction manual, warranty, threads, and needles... And all of this for $10. Unfortunately we barely made it trying to walk there in the snow, there was no way we were walking home with that heavy thing. So I'm thinking on it. If i still want it tomorrow, we'll dig the car out and go pick it up.

I hope you all are having a good week. We have been steadily working on cleaning up and organizing the house... its taking longer than expected due completely to our laziness. But we are on a good path...

What are you doing to keep busy?

I hope you do go get that sewing machine!! Have you ever sewed drawings on paper with one? Fun.

I've been keeping busy with studio work, snowy walks, and getting out of the house and over to the coffeeshop. And doing laundry. And thrift shopping. We are pretty snowbound in my neck of the woods.
